Having specialised in the production of narrow elastic textiles from its inception in 1847, the company’s first major strategic turning point came after the Second World War, when THUASNE launched its ranges of medical compression bandages: Plastex and Biflex, followed by the first medical belts: Lombax and Lombacross. Several comprehensive ranges of medical orthoses (ankle braces, knee braces, wrist braces, etc.) were then developed with the assistance of top orthopaedic and sports specialists: Ligaflex, Silistab, Dynastab, GenuPro, MalleoPro, etc. These were then joined by venous compression ranges, marketed under the Venoflex name. On the strength of its position as French leader, Thuasne then began to expand internationally from 1990 onwards, systematically establishing itself throughout Europe over the next 15 years. The company’s international expansion was the second major turning point for the Group.
