SpryStep®: understanding the different models of AFO brace
SpryStep® Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are designed to help people with foot drop, a condition where lifting the front of the foot becomes difficult. They support the foot during walking, reduce the risk of tripping, and help make walking safer and less tiring.
A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack or Cerebral Vascular Attack (CVA), is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can lead to foot drop.
SpryStep® Flex is designed to assist individuals with foot drop syndrome, weak dorsiflexors, mild knee instability, providing support to the foot to improve walking ability. It could be conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological, traumatic, or muscular conditions that cause biomechanical deficits. The orthosis features a posterior spiral strut that amplifies energy return, making each step more efficient and reducing fatigue. Material selection and lightweight composite structure participate to gait optimization.
"Yes, SpryStep® Original is designed to fit comfortably into most shoes, allowing you to maintain your usual footwear. We recommend wearing shoes which combine the following features: Reasonably strong heel cup stiffeners within the shoe: the back height of the shoe upper should be high enough to fully encapsulate the foot and the orthosis
Yes, it can be used with your existing insoles for added comfort. Please take care to put your existing insole above the orthosis.
Yes, the forefoot section of the orthosis can be trimmed to ensure a perfect fit for your foot size and shape. Strap can also be trimmed to ensure a quick closing by the patient. Be careful, it is not possible to heat-molded SpryStep® Original.
